Tito Vilanova in Dilemma Over Javier Mascherano

Barcelona, Spain | Argentine defender Javier Mascherano is the big doubt for Barca’s match against Bayern Munich on Wednesday. The FC Barcelona centre back has undergone tests today, and the player is doubtful for the Bayern clash at the Camp Nou. Coach Tito Vilanova now has a dilemma in whether to force his return to action or not.
It will be tomorrow, Tuesday when Tito Vilanova decides whether to call on Mascherano and name him in the squad. Mascherano has been out of the game for a month and there is no guarantees that he has fully recovered from his knee injury.
Now, the Barcelona coach must decide whether to force Mascherano and use him in the biggest game of the season or to see if the player himself meets all the deadlines. But given the problems in the Barca defense of late, Tito Vilanova may decide to use Javier Mascherano if the Barcelona medical team give the nod.
Wednesday’s game is a crunch game and everyone is hoping for another historic comeback, similar to that of the Barca vs AC Milan game. It’s a difficult decision for Vilanova to make especially regarding the weak defense that Barca has.
Using Mascherano will be like using Messi in the first game for many fans. Countless fans protested as Messi wasn’t at 100% and it showed. If Messi can produce the magic and Tito can count on Javier Mascherano without forcing the lad, then Barca has every chance of another historic comeback on Wednesday evening against Bayern Munich.
