New York, U.S.A |A research team from Algeria managed to manufacture Algeria’s first unmanned plane. The plane was developed in the Center for Research and Technological Development in Bousmail in the west of the capital Algiers, Algerian News Agency reported.
“An Algerian prototype drone is being manufactured at the Welding and Control Centre (CSC) of Bou Ismail, in the province of Tipasa (west of Algiers), the agency reported.
“The plane was developed within the framework of the program “Hope”, reported the Algerian newspaper Al Khabar in its March 9th issue. “ The plane can fly as high as 3.5 km for 6 hours, and it has filming capacity”, added the same source.
“The plane will be released by the end of 2013 after 3 years of work by Algerian researchers, and that president Boutafliqa inaugurated the project and determined that it should be completed within 36 months”, added the Algerian newspaper.
The newspaper also mentioned that the plane weighs 68 kg, and it has state of the art filming and transmission capacity.
The plane also has a highly advanced remote control system—it can be remotely controlled from 200 km away.
It also has a system of protection against piracy. The protection system is designed to protect both the management system of the plane as well as the information extracted.
