UN envoy to the Sahara to to Start a New Tour to The Region

Agadir, Morocco| United Nations Special Envoy for the Sahara, Christopher Ross, is due to start a new tour starting from March 20 to April 3 to the region to prepare a “possible resumption of direct negotiations” on the Sahara, where a solution “becomes more urgent than ever “under the” risk of instability in the Sahel, “said Friday the UN spokesman Eduardo del Buey in New York.
Eduardo del Buey said also that the envoy will discuss and consult with all parties, Morocco, Polisario,Algeria and Mauritania, with hopes that his tour would be the “next step in the process of negotiations and a resumption possible direct negotiations to reach a mutually acceptable political solution,”
“The current conflict in Mali and the heightened risks of instability and insecurity in the Sahel and beyond make a solution to the Western Sahara conflict more urgent than ever.” added Eduardo del Buey,”
According to the U.N website, “In January 2009 Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon appointed Christopher Ross as his Personal Envoy for Western Sahara, a territory that has been under dispute for several decades,”
