Morocco’s Attorney General: Gdim Izik events plot designed abroad

Taroudant, Morocco—A Moroccan Attorney General said that Gdim Izik scenario was planned abroad by Niima Alasfari, who is supposed to be the mastermind behind the bloody events that took place on November 8, 2010, during which 11 law enforcement officers killed and injured 70 others.
Niima Alasfari is accused of assigning other members different tasks and setting up a terrorist cell, whose job was to make Molotov cocktails as soon as Alasfar knew the Moroccan security forces were going to evacuate the camp, Almassaa newspaper said friday.
During yesterday morning’s session, Attorney General’s representative said that Alasfari, few hours before the forces’ mission was launched, held an emergency meeting with the cell members, where he supplied them with cutting weapons.
The same source added that some members deliberately drove four-wheeled vehicles and ran over security forces while others recklessly stabbed other officers: 9 got killed, 161 wounded, one of them was stoned to death.
Attorney General confirmed that the principal defendant got received financial support from some NGOs in the form of large sums of money in foreign currency, of which 10 thousand Dollars, 300 thousand Algerian money and 5 thousand Euros were found inside the head member’s tent, which was essentially used as a command center.
Attorney General Representative read all the charges against the defendant in detail. Besides, the court made use of two giant screens to display footages and videos of the shocking and upsetting events of Gdim Izik incident in addition to pictures of the confiscated weapons.
A video showed an individual from Gdim Izik group pissing on an officer corpse while another was about another victim who had his neck cut while lying on the ground.
The same video, where the Algerian flag was seen, face-covered members in military uniforms stoned the security forces while holding knives and swords. Other images displayed scenes of sabotage and destruction.
During the display of these images, victims’ families were asked out of the courtroom to be in sympathy with them and to avoid any possible nervous breakdown due to the gruesome scenes.
It is worth mentioning that Morocco News Tribune ran an article yesterday on Moroccan Attorney General who accused one of Gdim Izik group member of concocting the event scenario abroad.
