Manchester, England—A 31-year-old Moroccan man was sentenced to 23 years in prison yesterday for stabbing a British woman repeatedly in the neck, throat and back after carrying out the sex attack in Majorca, Spain, in May 2008, Daily mail reported.

The incident occurred on May 30, 2008 when the British woman,Cheryl Maddison, was coming back home from work to be attacked by a Moroccan man, Fadel El Anssari, who was working as a waiter at the time of the attack.

Telling her story to shields gazette, a British local newspaper, Cheryl recalled her nightmare in May 2008 “The attacker grabbed me by the hair and dragged me down a set of stairs to my apartment block, “Cheryl told the newspaper.

“He was screaming, and he said if I didn’t shut up he would kill me,” she added “He must have noticed the bedroom doors were open, and there was no one else there, so he dragged me into one of the bedrooms. He threw me on the bed and that is when he raped me.”

When arrested in July 2011, El Anssari confessed to the police that he was intoxicated at the time of the crime and suffering from mental illness.

El Anssari received two sentences, 11 years one for rape and another 12 years one for attempted murder.
