Fez, Morocco|LiveScience reported Saturday that the green meteorite found in Morocco last year may have originated from Mercury.

 “The green rock found in Morocco last year may be the first known visitor from the solar system’s innermost planet, according to meteorite scientist Anthony Irving, who unveiled the new findings this month at the 44th annual Lunar and Planetary Science Conference in The Woodlands, Texas,” LiveScience reported.

The green meteorite, or the NWA7325 as it is called, is believed to be about 4.56 billion years old, marking the first time a rock from the innermost planet has been discovered on Earth, according to news reports.

LiveScience quoted Irving who is Irving is an Earth and Space Sciences professor at the University of Washington as saying that “It might be a sample from Mercury, or it might be a sample from a body smaller than Mercury but [which] is like Mercury. A large impact could have shot NWA 7325 out from Mercury to Earth,”

NWA 7325 has a lower magnetic intensity — the magnetism passed from a cosmic body’s magnetic field into a rock — than any other rock yet found, Irving added.

Oklahoma, U.S.A | According to news reports, Facebook may introduce Thursday its own smartphone that will work with the operating system Android.

“That’s the promise of a “Facebook phone.” The modified Android OS and mobile homescreen replacement that sources tell us Facebook will unveil April 4th pushes your social life to you so fetching it isn’t interruptive. The news feed brought us ambient intimacy, but Facebook’s homescreen could turn that social graph awareness into a sixth sense,”

Facebook” invited media outlets to come celebrate the fourth Thursday in April / April the introduction of an updated version of the Android system developed by U.S. giant Google, including all features and applications compatible with Facebook, according to the site techcrunch.com.

And according to the Tech website 9to5google, “Follow years of rumors and speculation, Facebook is finally readying an entry into the mobile phone market. The social network is again hooking up with HTC which will design the hardware. The two companies have been working on a major marketing campaign in Southern California in recent weeks,”

“The idea is that Facebook and HTC are selling their phone and OS as a lifestyle brand, not specifically for its hardware or software,” the same source added.

The new venture comes contrary to what Facebook’s founder declared before that he was not interested in manufacturing a smartphone.

“Apple, Google, everyone builds phones — we are going in the opposite direction,” Zuckerberg said at the time.
